Three ways to arrange bridal gold

Overseas families typically choose between: (1) buying abroad — Gulf residents especially like Dubai and Saudi jewellery for design and hallmarking; (2) remitting money so family in Pakistan buys locally; or (3) buying on a visit so you personally select pieces at a Pakistani jeweller.

Each has trade-offs. Buying abroad gives you control and often strong hallmarking, but you must carry the gold home and deal with customs. Purity norms: 22K and 21K

Pakistani bridal jewellery is traditionally 22K (about 91.67% gold). Gulf markets sell a lot of 21K alongside 22K and 18K. A 21K set contains less gold per gram than 22K, so compare like with like — a "cheaper" 21K price per gram is not automatically a better deal.
